Big Up cards: If you have a big up card it is always a good idea to raise when you are first in. This sets the tempo for the hand and can intimidate your opponents when they see a high card verse their low value hand.

Big pair advantage: When the initial deal gives you a big pair, a pair of Queens, Kings Etc, it is usually a good move to play hard on the hand. Raising too much too soon can scare them off though tipping them off to a good hand.
