7 Card Stud Poker Tips & Tricks
Like Texas Hold ‘em Poker, 7 Card Stud Poker has grown popularity in the Poker world. If you are unfamiliar with 7 card stud poker
then your best place to start is with our articles on 7 card stud rules and stratiegies. These articles will give you a better
understanding about 7 Card Stud Poker and help you implement some of the techniques and tips described below.
Big Up cards: If you have a big up card it is always a good idea to raise when you are first in. This sets the tempo for the hand and can
intimidate your opponents when they see a high card verse their low value hand.
A 3 Flush: Seeing 3 cards of the same suite in your hand is an advantage for sure, however play this hand cautiously. Your opponents also
have the opportunity to have this hand or better. It is a good idea that when you play this hand play more cautiously when your 3 cards are
lower valued cards.
Play according to position: Position can be everything with 7 Card Stud. If you are last to play, you have the opportunity to see what your
opponents are thinking and how they are playing. You have the chance to play accordingly to every players hand and not having to base your bet
on your hand alone.
Big pair advantage: When the initial deal gives you a big pair, a pair of Queens, Kings Etc, it is usually a good move to play hard on the
hand. Wager well and force others to follow as chances are at that time you have the best hand. It is rare to see two people dealt a large
pair with the initial deal, although it does happen.
The famous 3 of a kind: Probably one of the most rare hands that can be dealt in 7 Card Stud Poker is to have the first 3 cards dealt to you
give you a 3 of a kind. What you do next can either help enlarge the pot, or scare off your opponents. The most your opponents will guess you
have if you raise is more than likely a pair. Raising too much too soon can scare them off though tipping them off to a good hand. If you
only raise a little until the 6th card is drawn, then the players will be more committed to the pot and call almost any raise you put forth in
hopes of claiming the prize.
